How to crop a picture

Cropping means to remove the outer parts of a picture. Generally a picture would be cropped to make the subject of the picture more noticeable. When cropping it is important to always consider how the picture is going to be used and to change the aspect ratio accordingly.

Pictured is an example of a cropped picture. The picture in the foreground was cropped from the picture in the background.

To crop a picture you will require a program that edit pictures. For a list of programs to edit pictures visit graphics.

To crop an image using pixlr .

First load image. Then from tools menu select cropping tool. The cropping tool icon is in the top left-hand position of tools menu. Generally the cropping tool icon has two overlapping right angles with a diagonal line running through them.

Next move the highlighted cropping area on the image as required.

Finally to make cropping permanent click on another tool icon or menu option.
